Audius, a music streaming platform based on the Ethereum and Solana blockchains, partnered this year with TikTok on the video-sharing app’s new “TikTok Sounds” library. It was a first of its kind deal with the social media giant, and a signal that Audius, founded by Roneil Ronberg, might emerge as a real challenge to centralized services like Spotify – or at least find its place within the establishment. Ronberg’s app, especially popular among electronic and dance musicians, takes a novel, token-based approach to the economics of music streaming.
