NEAR Protocol partners with Google Cloud to support Web3 devs

NEAR Foundation has announced a new partnership between Google Cloud and NEAR Protocol, providing infrastructure to NEAR’s Web3 startup platform, Pagoda.  According to an Oct. 4 announcement, this partnership will allow Google Cloud to provide “technical support” to NEAR grant recipients by providing infrastructure for NEAR’s Remote Procedure Call (RPC) node provider to Pagoda. Near Protocol is a decentralized application (DApp) platform that focuses on usability among developers and users. It uses sharding technology to achieve scalability and, as a competitor to Ethereum, is also smart-contract capable and a proof-of-stake…

Crypto gaming sucks — But devs can fix it

What we have today in terms of Web3 gaming is not working. Play-to-earn has not worked and neither will play-to-earn or any X-to/and-earn. On top of that, traditional gamers view nonfungible tokens (NFTs) with suspicion. They dunk on expensive apes and are skeptical of large game publishers applying the lipstick of NFTs for further monetization. Nobody knows what a successful Web3 game will look like yet. To get there, we need more developers to experiment with more models. We need infrastructure that will lower the barriers to Web3 game development…

The Helium network operates by users installing a Helium Hotspot to provide decentralized wireless 5G network coverage for internet users in their area. Helium uses a unique consensus mechanism — proof-of-coverage to verify network connectivity and distribute HNT tokens to…
