Hublot Now Accepts Shiba Inu and Other Cryptocurrencies

Hublot, a Swiss luxury watchmaker, has announced that its newly released 200 limited-edition watches can now be purchased online via BitPay, using cryptocurrencies such as Shiba Inu and Bitcoin. According to a tweet from Hublot, this method of payment is only available to consumers of the Hublot United States eBoutique.

The tweet from the official Hublot Twitter account reads, “Introducing the new #BigBangUnico Essential Grey, a limited edition of 200 pieces solely available online on the e-commerce platform hublot.com. Exclusively on our Hublot United States e-boutique, clients will be able to shop using select cryptocurrencies with Bitpay.”

BitPay, a cryptocurrency payments processor, announced support for Shiba Inu in late 2021. This allowed SHIB to be spent at hundreds of BitPay shops. BitPay also accepts Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Dogecoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Wrapped Bitcoin, and the five other USD-pegged stablecoins in addition to Shiba Inu (BUSD, DAI, GUSD, USDC and USDP).

Other high-end fashion labels and businesses have recently stated that they now accept BTC as payment for goods. As previously reported by U.Today, Tag Heuer, a Swiss luxury wristwatch, and Continental Diamond, a St. Louis Park-based jewelry retailer, have both announced that they will accept cryptocurrencies via BitPay.

The fact that more companies are accepting crypto payments, even as the market remains bearish on the industry, is exciting news for crypto investors. As more use cases are introduced for altcoins it is more likely that the market will return to its bullish stance on crypto.

A Brief Description of Hublot

Hublot is a Swiss luxury watchmaker founded by Italian Carlo Crocco in 1980. The watch that he created featured the first natural rubber strap in the history of watchmaking. Despite the fact that it failed to garner even a single customer on the first day of its debut at the 1980 Basel Watch Fair, the watch quickly proved to be a commercial success with sales in excess of over $2 million USD in its first year alone.
