Personally I know nothing about Bitcoin, how it is mined, or what the heck a person can really do with it, but there is no denying it is a powerful international entity.
The challenge to mining Bitcoin, is that it requires a tremendous amount of processing power, and of course that requires a tremendous amount of electricity. Where can a person find a tremendous amount of electricity at an affordable price? Well that would be an abandoned hydroelectric dam of course. The hydro dam at Ocean Falls is far from abandoned, but nearly the rest of this once thriving company town is, or has disappeared completely. Today, the power house is owned by a company called Boralex, and they supply electricity to the remaining residents of Ocean Falls, as well as the neighbouring communities of Bella Bella and Shearwater. Remarkably, including the neighbouring communities, the powerhouse is running at less than 25% capacity, which allows for business such as Ocean Falls Technology to operate in an otherwise unobtainable market.
