This is our second ground report from Odisha’s Sukinda Valley — a place often described as one of the most polluted mining belts in the world.
In this episode, we went deep inside Sukinda to understand how people are actually living amidst heavy mining activity. What we witnessed was disturbing.
• Families living close to mining waste
• Reports of serious health conditions among locals
• Concerns related to contaminated water and soil
• Visible impact of chromite mining on the environment
To go beyond just visuals and statements, we conducted independent lab tests of water and soil samples.We also spoke to a local journalist to understand the long-standing ground reality, administrative response, and the larger mining ecosystem.
