Patrick Witt โ Executive Director of the President’s Council of Advisors for Digital Assets โ just told Thinking Crypto that an official announcement on the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve and digital asset reserve could come in the COMING WEEKS. His exact words: “We’ll be making an announcement on that probably in the coming weeks… or next month or two.” This includes both executive actions AND new legislation being coordinated with Congress.
Remember โ Trump already named the assets. On March 3, 2025, he posted on Truth Social: “My Executive Order on Digital Assets directed the Presidential Working Group to move forward on a Crypto Strategic Reserve that includes XRP, SOL, and ADA. I will make sure the U.S. is the Crypto Capital of the World.” He added: “BTC and ETH will be the heart of the Reserve.” XRP was NAMED. By the President. For the reserve.
The structure is two-fold: a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve funded by the Treasury’s ~328,372 seized BTC, and a SEPARATE US Digital Asset Stockpile for non-Bitcoin assets โ which is where XRP, SOL, and ADA sit. Witt confirmed the White House is working with Congress to codify the executive order. Representative Nick Begich is introducing legislation tracking the BITCOIN Act. Senator Lummis’s BITCOIN Act would direct the Treasury to acquire 1 MILLION BTC over five years. The Mined in America Act from Senators Cassidy and Lummis also aims to codify the reserve.
For XRP, being named in a US government reserve โ alongside only BTC, ETH, SOL, and ADA โ is the ultimate institutional validation. When the announcement drops, the world finds out the US government officially holds XRP as a strategic asset.
