Europe’s next crypto battle is no longer about whether to regulate the industry, but who gets to hold the pen. European Union leaders are weighing a European Commission proposal to hand direct supervision of the bloc’s largest crypto asset service providers (CASPs) to the Paris-based European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), shifting front-line control away from national regulators. France, Austria and Italy believe the move is overdue. In a joint September 2025 paper, their market authorities called for “a stronger European framework,” arguing centralized oversight is needed to address “major…

Aave V3 Avoided Unrecovered Bad Debt From 2023 to 2025: Study
A Bank of Canada staff paper found that Aave V3 reported zero non-performing loans in 2024, with overcollateralization and automated liquidations helping prevent lender losses in its Ethereum lending market. Using transaction-level data from Jan. 27, 2023, to May 6, 2025, the study found that positions were typically liquidated before collateral values fell below outstanding debt, helping contain lender losses across the sample. But the model came with a tradeoff, the paper said. While it protected lenders from unrecovered losses, it also shifted risk onto borrowers and constrained capital efficiency…
XRP Price Completes Q1 In The Red Again, But Prior Performance Says A Surge Is Coming
XRP’s close of the month of March in the red has now marked the end of the first quarter of 2026 as very bearish for the cryptocurrency. While this is concerning for investors of the altcoin, this is not the first time in history that the XRP price has closed the first quarter of the year in a complete bleed. In fact, this has happened multiple times throughout history, and so far, the dominating trend seems to be that the cryptocurrency will end up going green. XRP’s First Quarter Of…

ICBA Opposes OCC’s Conditional Nod For Coinbase National Trust Bank Charter
The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) granted Coinbase (COIN) a conditional approval for a national trust bank charter, a move that would place the crypto exchange among a small group of five digital-asset firms — including Ripple, Circle (CRCL) — that have received similar tentative sign-offs from the agency. If the charter is finalized, Coinbase would be able to expand beyond custody services to offer payment products and other infrastructure under federal supervision, Coinbase’s chief legal officer, Paul Grewal, told CNBC. Coinbase Eyes Broader US Payments Suite …

New Bitcoin Crash Ahead? Bloomberg Strategist Forecasts Return To $10,000 – Here’s Why
Bloomberg senior strategist Mike McGlone has renewed a stark prediction for Bitcoin (BTC), arguing that the market’s leading cryptocurrency could resume a prolonged decline that takes it back toward $10,000. Why McGlone Sees Bitcoin Heading Back To $10K In a Thursday post on social media platform X (previously Twitter), McGlone framed the $10,000 level as a long-standing reference point for Bitcoin: it was a common trading price before the 2020–21 rally and has been among the most frequently traded levels since futures began trading in 2017. McGlone’s view, which he…
Bitcoin Stumbles Hard: The Worst Q1 In Years Raises Big Questions
Bitcoin ended the first quarter of 2026 at $68,200 after falling 22% over the period, its weakest opening three months since 2018. The slide erased an early push higher that had briefly carried the cryptocurrency close to $95,000 before the market turned lower. A Sharp Turn After A Strong Start The quarter did not begin quietly. Bitcoin opened the year at a little past $87,000 and moved higher in the early stretch, showing enough strength to reach nearly $95,000. That momentum did not last. The price later sank to about…
