Coinbase (COIN) Escalates U.S. SEC Fight Over the Agency’s Inside Chatter on ETH

Coinbase hired History Associates Inc. to pursue SEC communications under the Freedom of Information Act – a process that initially concluded with the agency denying the request by citing that the documents were connected to an ongoing investigation. Coinbase’s hired gun eventually sued over the denial, and History Associates is preparing to ask the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia to force the hand of the agency, which has since suggested the reason for its initial denial may no longer be valid. Coinbase is adding support for one artificial intelligence (AI)-focused altcoin on the Solana (SOL) network. In a new announcement, the top US crypto exchange says that decentralized physical infrastructure network (DePIN) io.net (IO) is being added to the platform for trading. Says Coinbase, “Trading will begin on or after 9 a.m. Pacific Time on October 9th, 2024, if liquidity conditions are met. Once sufficient supply of this asset is established trading on our IO-USD trading pair will launch in phases. Support for IO may be restricted in some supported jurisdictions.”…

Coinbase is raising awareness about the rise of online scams targeting younger users, particularly Gen Z.  In a blog post published on Oct. 8, Coinbase outlined four online threats Gen Z should be aware of, including social media fraud, romance scams, fake websites, and recovery schemes. Crypto Exchange Coinbase (COIN) to Delist Unauthorized Stablecoins in EU by December

Coinbase, the second biggest exchange, after Bybit, according to CoinGecko data, has been racing alongside other companies to become compliant with the European Union’s MiCA rules which require firms to be authorized in at least one EU country. Rules for stablecoins came into force on June 30, which require stablecoin issuers to have an e-money license in an EU member state to be able to operate in the bloc of 27 nations. Source
