NFT micro-philanthropy gives a new voice to the opera
The music industry has been a major adopter of Web3 integration, with use cases ranging from song rights, blockchain-based streaming and new forms of digital releases. Genres like pop, EDM and hip hop have represented nonfungible tokens (NFTs) in the music industry so far. However, classical music, and specifically opera, just found its entrance. Living Opera, a Web3 community that combines classical music with blockchain innovation, is turning to the emerging technology to give a new voice to the prestigious art and the artists who perform it. Soula Parassidis, CEO…
Hackers try to sell NFT of Belarusian leader’s supposed stolen passport
A group of hacktivists called the Belarusian Cyber Partisans have been attempting to sell a nonfungible token (NFT) featuring the purported passport info of Belarus president Alexander Lukashenko. The Belarusian Cyber Partisans say the move is part of a grassroots fundraising campaign to fight “bloody regimes in Minsk and Moscow.” The members claim to have hacked into a government database that has the passport info of every Belarusian citizen, allowing them to launch an NFT collection called “Belarisuan Passports,” which includes a digital passport that supposedly features Lukashenko’s actual information.…
Crypto winter? DeFi, Metaverse, and NFT job market still hot — Recruiters
The ongoing crypto winter has seen budgets and jobs slashed, but the search for top-tier talent hasn’t stopped across several Web3 verticals, according to some crypto recruitment firms. Speaking to Cointelegraph, Kevin Gibson, founder of crypto recruiting firm Proof of Search said that the majority of staff cuts in the crypto market have been from centralized exchanges, most notably the 18% staff cut at Coinbase in June, 10% cuts at Gemini in July, and the 5% cut at Crypto.com. Despite this, he said there is “still a great deal of demand”…

Ticketmaster selects Flow blockchain for minting NFT event tickets
According to Flow, a digital engagement layer-1 blockchain created by Dapper Labs, Live Nation’s subsidiary Ticketmaster has unveiled nonfungible tokens (NFTs) tickets for event organizers minted on its blockchain. The primary purpose of the NFT tickets will be for commemorative value. But aside from being used as mementos, they can also be used as proof of attendance at notable concerts. However, such virtual commemorative tickets are not valid for entry. One still needs to show a purchased ticket with a bar code from Ticketmaster or Live Nation for entry. As told…

Get ready for the feds to start indicting NFT wash traders
Studies show that most people who attempt to wash trade nonfungible tokens (NFTs) are unprofitable. But that doesn’t stop them from trying, which makes it a glaring regulatory and enforcement issue for the industry. In wash trading, manipulators buy and sell an asset between themselves to create the appearance that the asset is in higher demand and, therefore, worth more than it would be otherwise. With NFTs, wash trading is fairly straightforward: Imagine an investor holds $1 million in Ether (ETH). The investor mints an NFT and proceeds to sell…
