OpenSea Bug Allows Attacker to Get Massive Discount on Popular NFTs
A bug on the NFT marketplace OpenSea has allowed an attacker to get away with massive discounts on several non-fungible tokens (NFT) and make huge profit. Buying Bitcoin Anonymously (More or Less)
Want to buy some bitcoin? Better get your ID and front-facing camera ready. These days, the price of entry into cryptocurrency is usually not just your dollars or euros but also a wealth of personal data. The practice of gathering such data from users, known as know-your-customer, or KYC, has been increasingly adopted by major cryptocurrency platforms as regulators across the world grow concerned about the use of crypto by criminals. Introducing CoinDesk’s Privacy Week
Cryptocurrency was supposed to be about privacy. It’s right there in the prefix “crypto” (meaning “hidden” or “secret”), a nickname the technology shares with cryptography, the discipline that spawned it. “We have to trust [banks] with our privacy, trust them not to let identity thieves drain our accounts,” Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto wrote in 2009, explaining the impetus to create a new, peer-to-peer monetary system. Yet 13 years later, while BTC and its various knockoffs and descendants have become a $2 trillion asset class, privacy remains hard to come by,…
Solana Slides 17% to Lead Losses Amid Crypto Market Plunge
“Alarmingly, the sharp reversal on Friday was not followed by any meaningful bounce,” said Alex Kuptsikevich, senior financial analyst at FxPro, in an email to CoinDesk. “Some observers point out that this is a worrying signal, suggesting further market declines, as we have not seen a final capitulation. Without capitulation, the markets will remain with an overhang of sellers.” Source
