Binance Seals New NFT Deal Involving Football Star, Cristiano Ronaldo

Although many crypto firms are experiencing the bite of the bearish cryptocurrency season, Binance looks to up its game by taking an aggressive stance and signing a deal with football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo. This deal with Ronaldo will be centered around NFTs. Last week saw many layoffs in the crypto space. Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao was caught in attention when he posted a tweet at competitors who fired workers during the meltdown.

It didn’t take much time for Crypto twitter to find the hilarity in the post, as the photo he posted had his head photoshopped into it. Many believed that he was half trolling with the picture. It seems that Binance waited for this crypto winter season to make this top-tier deal at a relatively cheaper market discount as many other exchanges were making high-flying deals within the past year.

NFTs have been a competitive hub for talent deals for exchanges as many sports stars, entertainers, artists, and creatives are gradually forming its bedrock. This is very evident in this recent deal between Binance and Ronaldo, where the soccer star will be the face of “a series of NFT collections that will soon be launched exclusively by Binance.

In a blog post by Binance, CZ said, “Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the world’s best footballers, and has transcended sport to become an icon in multiple industries. He has amassed one of the world’s most dedicated fan bases through his authenticity, talent, and charity work…we are thrilled to provide his fans with exclusive engagement opportunities to connect with Ronaldo and own a piece of iconic sports history.”

Although the financial details around the deal are yet to be disclosed, it is expected that the first Ronaldo NFT release will happen sometime in 2022. Ronaldo will join fellow soccer star Lionel Messi and many other sports stars in embracing NFT-related partnerships and blockchain technology.

Ronaldo has a massive social media influence as he has the highest number of followers on Instagram, a platform that has proven to be NFT-friendly. Ronaldo, with his social media audience, is likely to be pivotal in introducing NFT to a new audience and sports in general.
