DARKTIMES, a medieval brawler royale game, is set to launch on the Sui blockchain, promising to revolutionize Web3 player engagement and asset ownership, according to the Sui Blog. Developed since 2021, DARKTIMES offers a unique blend of RPG elements and multiplayer brawling, creating a dynamic gaming experience.
An Immersive, Action-Packed World
The game features multiple maps rich in lore, with evocative names like the Coast of Bones and the Golden Plain, each filled with unique populations, legends, and hazards. Players start as peasants and build their skills and equipment to become champions, enhancing their characters’ progression and identification.
DARKTIMES also includes a diverse range of characters for players to choose from, including The Old Man, The Mammoth, The Huntress, The Noble, and The Exotic. Future seasons will introduce more characters, with players’ choices of skills and equipment personalizing their gameplay. The game also features a magic system based on elemental forces, adding another layer of strategy to the melee combat.
Integrating Sui Blockchain
Leveraging the Sui blockchain, DARKTIMES integrates digital assets such as the $TIMES token, Genesis NFTs, and various in-game cosmetic items. These assets are written as objects on the Sui network, allowing players to own, trade, and even mutate them. The $TIMES token will serve as the game’s currency, used for competing in higher-level leagues and trading items between players.
Genesis NFTs will act as tickets to enter higher prize pool levels, while cosmetic NFTs will allow players to personalize their characters. The mutable nature of NFTs on Sui will enable a crafting system, further enhancing the sense of ownership and customization. Sui’s high-performance network ensures subsecond transaction times, critical for seamless gameplay.
An Exciting Release
DARKTIMES will kick off with a 20-day social engagement campaign called Rune Run starting August 30, 2024, followed by Alpha testing in November. A live playtest will also be conducted at Korea Blockchain Week. Early players will have the opportunity to acquire Genesis NFTs and experience the game’s unique lands and player-versus-player combat.
