Meta Platforms CTO Says CEO Mark Zuckerberg Is Spending Time on AI

Bosworth heads the Meta Platforms unit that handles the company’s metaverse initiative and according to the veteran, the AI product being developed will help reshape this yet-to-be-launched technology in remarkable ways.

Andrew Bosworth, the Chief Technology Officer of Meta Platforms Inc (NASDAQ: META) has revealed in a recent interview that the company’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, alongside other top executives is now spending considerable time on developing the firm’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools.

As reported by CNBC, Bosworth noted that the AI solution that the company is working on will be instrumental for different aspects of the company, including its much-acclaimed metaverse.

The clamor around artificial intelligence has taken a whole new momentum thus far this year, particularly with the emergence of OpenAI’s ChatGPT. ChatGPT showcased how AI could enhance productivity in human-generated content covering almost any field. Ask the application any question, and the possibility of returning an answer with a decent level of accuracy is very high.

With the popularity that ChatGPT has garnered over the years, many tech companies are now heavily invested in the new technology with the likes of Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ: MSFT) and Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ: GOOGL) launching Bing AI and Bard respectively.

While most of the AI applications around are modeled as conversational style chatbots, Bosworth gave an insight that highlights how the products from Meta Platforms will be different. According to him, the company will be set to launch some of its innovative commercial AI products this year and their applications can be deployed to enhance advertising for users.

Per the report, Bosworth said the AI product can help its ad buyers to generate different images for their products that can help appeal to a wide range of audiences. This he noted will bring more value for all customers and help to generate increasing click-throughs.

ChatGPT has changed the narrative in the workplace and the digital content space as the chatbot can be deployed for use in a wide range of scenarios.

Meta Platforms AI and the Metaverse

Bosworth heads the Meta Platforms unit that handles the company’s metaverse initiative and according to the veteran, the AI product being developed will help reshape this yet-to-be-launched technology in remarkable ways.

“In the future, you might be able to just describe the world you want to create and have the large language model generate that world for you,” Bosworth said in the report. “And so it makes things like content creation much more accessible to more people.”

While this application is more appealing to Bosworth based on his core roles in the company, he noted that the AI solutions it is developing will eventually be applied to all aspects of the company’s business.

Meta Platforms’ development of the metaverse is a very convincing passion considering the unit lost more than $13 billion in the 2022 financial year. Despite these losses, CEO Mark Zuckerberg sees a future in the technology and hopes to be amongst the pioneers that will laugh last with their commercial innovations in the field.
