SIX Swiss Exchange today confirmed that Virtu ITG Europe Limited has started trading on the exchange. The platform has welcomed Virtu ITG Europe Limited as a new trading participant and that has pushed the overall number of trading participants on the exchange to 95.
SIX noted that the participants will be able to take advantage of highly liquid and efficient trading on the platform. In the past 12 months, the SIX Swiss Exchange welcomed some of the leading names in the financial services industry as trading participants and issuers. Recently, Helveteq announced the listing of two new crypto ETPs on the SIX Swiss Exchange.
Gregor Braun, Head of Sales Switzerland & Europe at SIX Swiss Exchange, said that the joining of Virtu ITG Europe Limited highlights the growing popularity of the exchange across the financial services industry.
“We are delighted to welcome Virtu ITG Europe Limited, another renowned trading participant, to our ranks. The growth in trading participants shows that the high quality of the SIX Swiss Exchange order book is appreciated and in demand in the market. And the growth is not least a consequence of the fact that we maintain and further develop our platform with constant innovation,” Braun added.
Partnerships
In the last few months, SIX has formed several partnerships to expand its reach. Earlier this year, the platform partnered with the LMAX Group to launch crypto futures. In April 2022, SIX Digital Exchange, which received regulatory approval from FINMA, the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority, to operate a Stock Exchange and a central securities depository for digital assets in Switzerland, inked a partnership with Daura.
Last month, SIX also announced the launch of its new IT clearing infrastructure for the Nordic markets. The platform has integrated the new clearing infrastructure into its SIX Post Trade Architecture (PTA).
