What if the future of crypto mining — and maybe even the internet — isn’t on Earth at all?
A company called Starcloud is working on something that sounds like science fiction: putting data centers and crypto mining hardware into orbit. Instead of massive mining farms on land, the idea is to run high-power computing systems in space using constant solar energy and the natural cooling of the vacuum.
In this video, I break down why this idea might actually make sense, and why it could be about much more than just mining cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin or other blockchain networks. We could be witnessing the early stages of a new technological race — building the first real space-based cloud computing infrastructure.
If this works, it could impact:
Crypto mining efficiency
Artificial intelligence training in orbit
Global internet infrastructure
Decentralized financial systems
The long-term future of computing
But there are still huge challenges: launch costs, radiation damage to hardware, satellite reliability, and latency between Earth and orbit. The big question is whether the economics actually work at scale.
My take: this is one of those experiments that could either quietly disappear… or become one of the biggest shifts in technology over the next decade.
So is space mining the next revolution in crypto — or just another hype cycle? Let’s talk about it.
