In a blog post, the researcher shared his speculations, suggesting that Rain was likely hacked for $14.8 million on April 29. Rain is a cryptocurrency exchange and custodian that serves the Middle East, Turkey, and Pakistan. The crypto exchange Kraken is pushing back against claims made by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). In November, the SEC charged Kraken with operating its crypto trading platform as an unregistered securities exchange, broker, dealer and clearing agency.
