What to Expect at Apple WWDC 2023? New MacBook Models and Mixed Reality

Market analysts expect Apple to unveil the first glimpses on its much-awaited mixed-reality headsets during the WWDC 2023 event ahead in June 2023.

It’s almost two months to Apple‘s WWDC 2023 event but the rumor mill has already started generating some chatter in the market. As per early reports, Apple is planning the launch of more hardware devices with new MacBook models set to make the appearance.

For years, Apple’s WWDC event has majorly been software and developer-centric. However, it could also become a venue for introducing new hardware. As per Sunday’s Power-On newsletter from Bloomberg, Mark Gurman said that he expects some new MacBook models to appear at the event. However, he didn’t specifically note which model he was expecting.

However, the Bloomberg analyst expects a wide array of Macs on the way such as an updated 13-inch MacBook Air, a larger 15-inch MacBook Air, an entry-level 13-inch MacBook Pro, some high-end MacBook Pro models as well as an updated 24-inch iMac. But note that all of the above-mentioned models are likely to launch through 2023 and by early 2024.

As per Apple Insider, Gurmann believes that at least some of these MacBook models will launch during the WWDC 2023 event. Also, Gurman thinks that Apple might continue to stick with its M2 generation chip instead of the M3 chips.

Apple to Introduce Mixed Reality Headset at WWDC 2023

For a long, there have been reports that Apple’s next major shift from smartphones will be in its virtual reality and augmented reality headsets. However, the latest development in the industry is that Apple could be unveiling its mixed-reality headset during the launch of the WWDC 2023 event.

The long-rumored AR and VR headsets from Apple have seen multiple delays and issues. But an unexpected launch could come as a surprise this WWDC, writes Bloomberg’s Gurman. During Sunday’s “Power On” newsletter Gurman added that Apple could be going ahead with the high-profile introduction of its mixed-reality headsets.

In his Sunday’s newsletter, Gurman wrote that the headset will be “the star of the show” and will feature its xrOS operating system and software development kit. Gurmann added that Apple will have a clear story for developers and shall explain in detail during the conference showing its custom App Store and tools.

However, Gurman adds that the headsets won’t go for sale immediately “for several months” thereby giving developers some time to build wonderful experiences around it. As reported earlier this year, Apple is already in talks with Disney over the headset content.
