At first, they did not have bad blood between them. Then came the Bitcoin Cash hard fork and the heat started accumulating. Although Roger Ver is seen more modest in absorbing the heated exchange, Craig Wright is going full blast.
Where did the fallout begin?
Well, tracing the roots of the bitter exchange between the two is a bit difficult. However, analyzing recent remarks by Ver, the two had very strong ties but Roger, a Bitcoin Cash evangelist and the owner of a BCH mining pool, unearths that Craig had ‘fooled him.’
Fooled? Yes, maybe to believing that Craig Wright was actually Bitcoin’s creator, Satoshi Nakamoto. The bitter exchange between Craig and Roger surfaced when news spread that a Bitcoin Cash Hard fork is on its way.
With two forks on the table, Bitcoin Cash ABC and Bitcoin Cash SV (Satoshi Vision), Roger took the ABC lane while Craig took the SV lane.
Then,
“Bitcoin will die before ABC shits on it. I will see BCH trade at 0 for some years. Will you. Side with ABC, you hate bitcoin, you are my enemy. You have f—-ng no idea what that means. You will. I AM satoshi. Have a nice life. You will now discover me when pissed off. And, no. You could have had proof. Your choice,” stated an email allegedly sent to Ver by Wright.
In a tweet, Craig Wright alleges that Ver is seeking to promote ‘Kiddie porn site and Silk Road Version 2.0’
Roger has tried to keep it cool and even invited Craig Wright to a BCH mining conference to have a public technical debate. But Craig never showed up.
“It seems strange to have Craig refuse to engage in any sort of technical debate there, and my suspicion at this point is that he can’t. And I’ve seen a bunch of things happen that make me skeptical, very very, deeply skeptical,” reported CCN.
On the issue of Craig Wright being the real Satoshi Nakamoto, Ver decided to leave it blank by saying that even if it turned out to be true, it has already dented his view of Satoshi.
Instead of an outward lash on Wright, Roger indicated that Wright should:
“Be mad at the fiat currencies that are used to manipulate people all over the world. That’s the currency you should be mad at. Not Bitcoin Cash.”
Roger Ver also tells Craig Wright that he thanks him for creating something phenomenal if at all he is Satoshi. But if he wants to prove that he is the real Nakamoto, ‘just sign something with the genesis block. It’s that simple.’
Away from the harsh words.
What exactly does the BCH hard fork seek to solve?
Each side of the fork is seeking a different route. BCHABC, is seeking to continue with the original vision of Bitcoin Cash.
On the other side, BCHSV is seeking to do some upgrades. This includes increasing the block size from 32 MB to 128 MB. BCHSV also seeks to change the base protocol so that its platform can comfortably accommodate smart contracts.
The hash power factor
This is the single most determinant to the success or failure of the two forks. Generally, the coin with the highest hash power will have a greater chance of growing because miners will abandon the shorter chain to accommodate the longer chain. Without miners to validate transactions, the coin is as well as dead.
After the fork happened 7 days ago (Nov 15), BCHABC leads with a 61 percent mining power followed by BCHSV with a 39 percent mining power.
The difference in the mining power, prompted Craig Wright to respond to Joseph Young, a virtual currency analyst saying:
“Just a reminder, sustainable hash. Not a day, not weeks, not a burst. Continuous competition until one dies as we do not stop.”
Jihan Wu, the co-founder of Bitmain and a supporter of BCHABC, replied to Craig Wright:
“I have no intention to start a hash war with CSW [Craig Steven Wright], because if I do (by relocating hash power from BTC mining to BCH mining). BTC price will dump below yearly support; it may even breach $5,000. But since Craig is relentless, I am all in to fight till death.”
Where the mining power and the war with words takes the new forks, only time will tell.
