Tech-focused e-retailer Newegg extended the Bitcoin (BTC) payment option for its online customers in 73 additional Newegg country-specific stores.
Newegg has been offering this facility to its customers in the U.S. and Canada for the past five years in partnership with Bitcoin payment processor BitPay.
The retailer has a reach of more than 80 countries in Europe, Asia Pacific, Latin America and the Middle East. Founded in 2001, the company offers consumer electronics, entertainment, smart home and gaming products for online purchase.
In July 2014, Newegg partnered with BitPay to facilitate Bitcoin transactions for Newegg’s customers in the U.S. and then rolled out this to customers in Canada in August 2014.
Out of the 80 Newegg-served countries, BTC payment option will remain unavailable for customers residing in six countries – Algeria, Ecuador, Egypt, Indonesia, Morocco and Vietnam.
Paying in cryptocurrencies is becoming a preferred method among the new generation as they benefit from easy, fast and secure transactions at lower transaction fees. This will also help customers conveniently shop without having to enter any card information for online payments and avoid credit card fees.
