- BTS released concept shots for their upcoming album.
- Titled “Map of the Soul 7,” it promises to be the most thrilling album from the South Korean pop group yet.
- Even non-BTS fans have to admit that.
It’s easy to see why BTS became an international phenomenon, but the group is not to everyone’s taste.
Which is fine.
But even if you’re not into the band’s poppy antics, you might enjoy some of the artists’ solo work. If so, you should definitely give Map of the Soul 7 a chance.
It looks like the upcoming BTS album is going to be one of the group’s darkest – and most introspective – compilations to date.
This BTS Album Feels a Lot Like a Solo Project – And That’s Exciting!
Suga, real name Min Yoon-gi, has a solo project called Agust D. This really shows his darker side, far removed from the bright and upbeat music of the main group.
J Hope and RM have solo projects too. And it’s striking how different their music is from the BTS back catalog.
J Hope’s music is usually bright and cheerful, although it mainly consists of rapping over weird beats.
RM clearly just wants to trip people out.
‘Map of the Soul 7’ Unleashes Stunning Creative Freedom
These personalities are shining brighter in Map of the Soul 7 than we’ve ever seen from BTS.
Take Suga’s “Interlude: Shadow” comeback trailer. You’d be forgiven for mistaking it for his Agust D material rather than a BTS production.
The same goes for J Hope. It seems like this album might actually be taking a look inside the minds of the members of BTS.
More than ever, it seems that their impressive global reach is starting to give them the freedom to take bolder creative gambles.
Even as someone who isn’t a hardcore BTS fan myself, I’m ridiculously intrigued for Map of the Soul 7.
You should be too.
