Another US lawmaker said to own crypto as SEC reviews its ETF rejection

After previous reports of US lawmaker said to own crypto; Bob Goodlatte, House Judiciary Committee Chairman owning between $17,000 to $80,000 in Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, and Ethereum circulated in May via Virginia Republican’s annual financial disclosure, it seems like the trend is set to continue.

It has recently been disclosed that Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard invested in cryptocurrencies last year just before the Peak around November/December according to the congress woman’s financial form.

It is said that she invested up to about $15,000 in Ethereum and Litecoin. It is, however, not known how many coins she holds or when the purchases were made in December according to Bloomberg.

The revelations are coming at a time when the SEC just rejected another set of Bitcoin ETF proposal, something which many expected will cause the market to pick up again. However, in numerous hearings, the SEC has thrown support on cryptocurrencies calling it the future of money.

Following the latest rejection of 9 Bitcoin ETFs put forth by 3 different companies; Proshare, Graniteshares and Direxion, it is said that the Securities and exchange commission says it will review the decision taken by its staff members. The Sec secretary wrote 3 separate letters to the companies assuring them that the decision will be reviewed.

“This letter is to notify you that, pursuant to Rule 43 I of the Commission’s Rules of Practice, 17 CFR 20 I .43 1, the Commission will review the delegated action. In accordance with Rule 431 (e), the August 22 order is stayed until the Commission orders otherwise.”  Sec Secretary, Brent Field

Sec Commissioner Hester Peirce also took up to twitter where he explained the steps the SEC will take to review its decision.

“In English: the Commission (Chairman and Commissioners) delegates some tasks to its staff. When the staff acts in such cases, it acts on behalf of the Commission. The Commission may review the staff’s action, as will now happen here,” Peirce.
