The president of the CNBV between December 2018 and March 2020, Gรณmez was trained as a biochemical engineer but has spent his career in the financial sector. After leaving the Mexican Securities Commission, he joined the Cabinet for Economic Growth, created in 2020 by the Mexican President Andrรฉs Manuel Lรณpez Obrador.
