Cryptocurrency trading platform Coinsquare has launched operations in 25 countries in the European Union. The company now offers European customers access to its full suite of cryptocurrencies and services. This move marks the first international expansion for Coinsquare, which to date has only been available to Canadian customers.
Singapore-based Locus Chain Foundation, a developer of a next-generation blockchain protocol, plans to launch a digital asset exchange platform Locus DAX in Dubai during the first quarter of 2019. Locus DAX will allow users to buy, sell and trade digital currencies including Bitcoin, Ethereum and Locus Token – Locus Chain’s own digital currency. The exchange says it will offer interoperability with financial accounts, allowing users to purchase cryptocurrencies with fiat currencies such as USD and AED.
Japan’s Financial Services Agency has approved a cryptocurrency exchange license for hacked crypto exchange Coincheck, the Nikkei Asian Review reports. An announcement will come by the end of the year, according to the report. In January, hackers managed to steal $511 million worth of clients’ cryptocurrency.
U.K. tax agency Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has released a paper containing the agency’ views of the appropriate tax treatment of crypto assets. HMRC has also published guidance for people who hold crypto assets, explaining what taxes they may need to pay, and what records they need to keep.
Atari, a global interactive entertainment and multiplatform licensing group, has entered into a license agreement with Animoca Brands Ltd, a subsidiary of Animoca Brands Corp. The agreement grants Animoca Brands the rights to produce and publish blockchain versions of the popular Atari mobile game titles RollerCoaster Tycoon Touch and Goon Squad globally – excluding China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau.
