If being a 6x Superbowl champ wasnโt enough, Bill Belichick appears to be aiming for a career in Hollywood.
The Patriots head coach was just featured in a Subway commercial. But, considering Belichickโs polarizing nature, did Subway just make a huge mistake?

Bill Belichick Is Not the Most โLikeableโ Guy on Earth
Yes, itโs fun to feature someone of Bill Belichickโs stature in your commercial. Yes, itโs fun to humanize the โbad guy,โ especially since he hasnโt committed any major crimes. But people really donโt like Bill Belichick.
And who can blame them?
Heโs won more Super Bowls than any coach in NFL history. Success alone is enough to draw ire. But when you consider that many folks think that Belichick cheated his way past their favorite teams, the animosity can fester.
There was Deflategate, in which the gameโs best quarterback, Tom Brady, and the gameโs winningest coach, Belichick, allegedly deflated footballs to give themselves the upper hand.
Before that, there was Spygate. Thatโs when the Patriots were caught recording signals from opposing defensive coaches.
And letโs not forget when Patriots personnel were caught filming the practices of the Cincinnati Bengals last year.
But, sadly, success and cheating arenโt the only reasons people dislike Bill Belichick.
Trump Fans Will Be Eating More Subway
In the highly tense political climate of 2020, Bill Belichick has gathered new legions of naysayers. Thatโs because Donald Trump has outed Belichick as a fan of his.
The Patriots coach wrote him a congratulatory letter in 2016. Check out these words of encouragement that Trump read onstage, allegedly written by Belichick:
Congratulations on a tremendous campaign. You have dealt with an unbelievable slanted and negative media, and have come out beautifully โ beautifully. Youโve proved to be the ultimate competitor and fighter. Your leadership is amazing. I have always had tremendous respect for you, but the toughness and perseverance you have displayed over the past year is remarkable. Hopefully tomorrowโs election results will give the opportunity to make America great again. Best wishes for great results tomorrow.

Recently, Trump even pegged Belichick as a worthy military advisor.
Subway might attract some new MAGA fans with its latest commercial, but there appear to be far more people who would be disgusted by Belichickโs Trump-loving ways.
Luckily for Subway, one of its biggest competitors is also an unapologetic supporter of the man who once bragged about sexual assault. (Weโre looking at you, Jimmy Johns).
In the end, though, even if this commercial is controversial, it will get more people talking about Subway. And Belichick will help someone win, again.
