DAV Foundation to Tie Loose Autonomous Vehicle Ends
The Zug, Switzerland-based startup, which held a successful ICO over a mere two weeks in June, is building a decentralised global network for autonomous vehicles. The DAV network provides a platform to enable the smooth flow of information between the land, sea, and sky vehicles and the people and infrastructure that interact with them, using blockchain technology.
Their network includes drones and drone charging docks, as well as boats and search and rescue robots. The network, built on the Ethereum platform, is fueled by DAV tokens.
Ethereum Alumni Join Forces
The DAV Foundation is unique insofar as its lineup includes an impressive list of former and current Ethereum Foundation members. Dr. Greg Colvin was a core developer of Ethereum. Nick Johnson is the Creator and Chief Developer of the Ethereum Name Service, and a former Google engineer. Johnson will chiefly be responsible for scalability.
Tung Chan, DAV’s general counsel, was the General Counsel for the Ethereum Foundation, also serving as a Securities Commissioner for the State of Hawaii for over eight years. John Frazer was once the External Relations lead for the Ethereum Foundation. His role will be in communications.
DAV founder and CEO Noam Copel said of the team behind the startup:
“The collective talent we have on board here just speaks for itself. But more than that, it’s exhilarating to see that these professionals in the Ethereum space share our passion for the future of transportation. We now have the right people in place to take the DAV Network that much further. It’s so exciting to see what we can now achieve.”
The group also boasts former executives from SAP, UPS, Equinix, IBM, Cisco, as well as two ex-NASA astronauts. DAV will expect to face competition from Paket, as well as the FedEx-backed logistics alliance known as the Blockchain in Transportation Alliance (BiTa). Another transport & logistics startup, SUKU, was founded by former Deloitte employees.
Have your say. As the heyday of ICOs draws to a close, is this the kind of team you might have been willing to support in a token sale?
