The first real world bitcoin transaction happened a decade ago–to be precise, January 3, 2009. It was done by one Laszlo Hanyecz who infamously bought two large size pizzas from papa johns using 10 thousand bitcoins. At that time, 10 thousand bitcoins were worth only around 40 dollars. Isn’t that shocking? Imagine if he had not used those bitcoins for pizza, but rather kept it! Those 10 thousand bitcoins would now be worth somewhere more than 280 million dollars. Now that’s a lot of money…and that was one expensive pizza order.
Bitcoin is an electronically created currency. Bitcoins were created by some unidentified mysterious figure or perhaps a group known as Sat-oshi Naka-moto. There are more than 6,500 cryptocurrencies in existence as of September 2021. One of the most popular, highly reliable and invested cryptocurrency is Bitcoin. Like other cryptocurrency it is also created via computer processes which use raw mathematics and absolute computation horsepower to underwrite the value of transactions. The conventional banking system is controlled by central banks whereas cryptocurrencies depend on the mathematical certification certitude of a decentralised ledger which is also known as blockchain system.
বিশ্বের প্রথম বাস্তব বিটকয়েন লেনদেন হয়েছিল এক দশক আগে – সুনির্দিষ্টভাবে বলতে গেলে, ৩ জানুয়ারী, ২০০৯ সালে ৷ লাজলো হ্যানিয়েজ নামের এক ব্যক্তি ১০ হাজার বিটকয়েন ব্যবহার করে পাপা জনস থেকে দুটি বড় আকারের পিজ্জা কিনেছিলেন ৷ তখন ১০ হাজার বিটকয়েনের মূল্য ছিল মাত্র ৪০ ডলার। বিষয়টি কি অদ্ভুত তাইনা? যদি তিনি সেই বিটকয়েনগুলো দিয়ে পিজ্জা না কিনে রেখে দিতেন তাহলে সেই ১০ হাজার বিটকয়েনের মূল্য এখন ২৮০ মিলিয়ন ডলারের বেশি হবে। এখন এটি অনেক টাকা এবং এই কারনে সেই পিজ্জা দুটিকে বিশ্বের সবচেয়ে ব্যয়বহুল পিজ্জা বলা হয়ে থাকে।
বিটকয়েন এক ধরনের ইলেকট্রিকাল মুদ্রা। সাতোশি নাকামোতো নামের এক রহস্যময় ব্যক্তি কিংবা একটি গ্রুপ প্রথম বিটকয়েন তৈরি করেছিল। ২০২১ সালের সেপ্টেম্বর পর্যন্ত ৬,৫০০ টিরও বেশি ক্রিপ্টোকারেন্সির খোঁজ পাওয়া গিয়েছে। এদের মধ্যে সবচেয়ে জনপ্রিয়, অত্যন্ত নির্ভরযোগ্য এবং বিনিয়োগকৃত ক্রিপ্টোকারেন্সি হল বিটকয়েন । অন্যান্য ক্রিপ্টোকারেন্সির মতো এটিও কম্পিউটার এ গণিত এবং পরমমান ব্যবহার করে বিশেষ প্রক্রিয়ার মাধ্যমে তৈরি করা হয়।
