Unlike other brands that have recently generated huge amounts of money from the release of their NFTs, McDonalds is not selling its digital works.
McDonald’s France is planning to launch its digital artworks in the form of non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The fast-food giant has been teasing digital artworks of its iconic dishes such as Big Mac on social media.
Mcdonald’s Joins NFTs Trend
McDonald’s France is the latest firm to join the ongoing NFT craze. Over the past month, the NFT space has been bubbling with debuts of artists, celebrities, and institutions.
McDonald’s made the announcement of its entrance into the NFT world in an Instagram post on the 4th of April. McDonald’s France posted two NFTs representing a box of chicken McNuggets and the iconic Big Mac. The images were captions with the hashtag #McDoNFT.
Days after, the fast-food company posted two more McDonald’s NFTs on Twitter. The tweet posted on the 6th of April shows that McDonald’s is releasing two additional NFTs- sundae and fries. Each of the 4 works will be in five copies, making 20 unique works in total.

The report further revealed that the videos published by McDonalds will be transformed into NFTs by the New York-based agency DDB and will be uploaded to the digital marketplace OpenSea.
Recently, American football legends Eli and Peyton Manning said they are planning to launch a collection of NFTs. The brothers said the art collection will be eight digital pieces featuring memorable events in their careers.
As the NFT mania continues, Luxurious fashion brand Gucci also said it will soon release an NFT. Reports also showed that more luxury fashion brands are also looking to launch their NFTs.
In addition, American men’s lifestyle and entertainment magazine Playboy has partnered with Nifty Gateway to launch the NFT art gallery. Already, both individuals and firms have secured funds from NFT sales. Mike “Beeple” Winkelmann sold an NFT for $69 million in the first-ever action of an entirely digital artwork.
McDonald’s to Reward Contest Winners with Digital Arts
Unlike other brands that have recently generated huge amounts of money from the release of their NFTs, Mcdonald’s is not selling its digital works. Instead, the fast-food company is offering them as prizes to winners of its social media contest. McDonald’s France plans to hold a contest among its social media followers. The contest for the first two NFTs will begin on the 9th of April till 13th. McDonald’s France social media followers will then contest for the other two NFTs from the 14th of April to the 18th.
Additionally, the winners of the contest will also be rewarded with a digital frame reproducing the work in real world.
