Today’s stock market news:
Today there will be a hearing in the House about GameStop. Robinhood CEO Vladimir Tenev and Reddit hero Keith Gill will also be there. The hearing is focused on short selling, online trading platforms and more.
Today 80% of Palantir’s shares unlock for trading. This could lead to very volatile price action in the next days. Palantir went public in September last year.
Tesla’s 1.5 billion dollar bitcoin purchase was facilitated by Coinbase. The crypto platform did the same for MicroStrategy’s bitcoin purchases. Coinbase is likely going public soon, somewhere this year.
And another 773.000 Americans likely filed for unemployment. The number would be the lowest level in nearly two months. However, we’re still nowhere near prepandemic levels.
