BlackRock’s newest ETF invests in 35 blockchain-related companies

BlackRock, the world’s largest asset manager, has just launched a new exchange-traded fund (ETF) providing European customers with exposure to the blockchain industry, while reports indicate a Metaverse-focused ETF may be on the way.  The newly launched blockchain ETF on Sept. 27 is called the iShares Blockchain Technology UCITS ETF (BLKC). Blockchain-related hacks have declined in 2020

The amount of cryptocurrency and blockchain-related hacks has been decreasing over the course of 2020, a new report claims. According to data analyzed by VPN provider Atlas VPN, the number of hacks in the first half of 2020 dropped more than three times compared to the same period in 2019. Alibaba Signs Blockchain-Related Deal With Chinese Port Operator

China’s biggest port operator, China Merchants Port, reached a deal on May 28 with the e-commerce giant, Alibaba Group, and its affiliate, Ant Financial. This deal will allow for the development of a blockchain-based platform, which will target a number of different use cases. Blockchain-Related Deals Are Moving From The US to China

New York-based research firm, CB Insights, has released a report showing that  Chinese startups are starting to substantially increase their blockchain-related investments. The research document, titled The Blockchain Report 2020, was published on March 11. It highlights that in 2015, deals from US-based companies accounted for 51% of Blockchain tech growth. Comparatively China-based companies represented only 2%. Big four auditing firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) is the top recruiter for blockchain-related jobs on recruitment platform Indeed, search results showed at press time on March 30.
