China is not relenting in its push to eradicate anything to do with crypto in the country. As WeChat bans crypto content, China is now taking the ban on social media platforms.

“Due to users’ complaints and after the platform’s examinations, the account is found to violate Temporary Regulations on the Development an Management of Public Information Services for Instant Messaging Tools’ and all contents have been banned. The account has been prohibited for use.”
The ban on the accounts comes just days after the Cyberspace Administration of China developed new rules to govern what can and cannot be posted using instant messaging tools among other means.
In other news, Steve Wozniak, Apple’s co-founder has for the first time joined the cryptocurrency space. Steve revealed this while being interviewed by null transaction on the sidelines of the ChainXchange blockchain convention.
“I’m involved with, very soon, my first time being involved in a blockchain company. [It’s] called Equi,” said Wozniak.
He added that he likes “to keep up with things… Bitcoin caught my attention. It had so many unusual aspects for any technology I had ever heard of. At first, I kept hearing [about blockchain], and I didn’t understand it. It’s not something you understand in a day. It’s so independent! It’s kind of like the internet when it was brand new… I was amazed at the technology behind it.”
Although Equi is an investment firm, Steve’s role was not yet clear at the time of writing.
For the Apple co-founder, “bitcoin is still digital gold.”
As WeChat bans crypto content, will the Chinese authorities start deeply policing the social media platforms for anything related to virtual currencies including ICOs?
