QuadrigaCX Founder May Have Stored Private Keys on Paper in Safety Deposit Box

The founder of major Canadian crypto exchange QuadrigaCX, Gerald Cotten, may have stored the exchange’s private keys on paper in a safety deposit box, Bloomberg reported on Feb. 15. In an interview on the “True Bromance Podcast” in February 2014, Cotten warned of the danger of losing keys to cold wallet storage systems, and thus losing access to the assets stored on them. “Even the U.S. government, with the biggest computers in the world, could not retrieve those coins if you’ve lost the private key. It’s impossible to retrieve those,”…

Don’t Listen To Crypto Critics, Bitcoin “Really Is Money”

Since Bitcoin (BTC) came into being, incumbents of the legacy world, such as Jamie Dimon or Janet Yellen, have bashed the cryptocurrency en-masse. Dimon, the chief executive of JP Morgan (ironic, I know), remarked that Bitcoin is a “fraud” and of no inherent value, while former Federal Reserve chair Yellen quipped that the asset is “anything but useful.” Even JP Morgan’s research group has been overtly skeptical of cryptocurrencies, remarking that BTC could fall to $1,260, as its value will only be proven in a dystopian world where fiat currencies…

Chainalysis Secures $30M: Despite Bitcoin Crash, Crypto Venture Money Still Flowing

The so-called “crypto winter” has undoubtedly been tough on a majority of this ecosystem’s upstarts, even those with supposedly colossal war chests and copious amounts of talent. Heck, earlier this week, Ripple cut Bloomberg alumni Cory Johnson, the fintech firm’s chief market strategist, due to shifts in the Bitcoin winds. Bitmain, Huobi, and ShapeShift are also among industry powerhouses that have mandated staff cuts to bolster their bear market bottom lines. Other firms, such as Giga Watt and Liqui, have collapsed entirely. But interestingly, it seems that the crash in…
