Shares of Silvergate Capital (NYSE:SI) are in freefall this week, while the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, or SEC, has revealed a large liquidation of company stock by board member Thomas Dircks.  The security regulator’s Form 4 documentation shows Dircks sold 60,000 Class A Common Stock over eight transactions on Dec. 8. The largest transaction was the disposal of 37,192 shares at a price of $40.72. In total, the sales netted Dircks over $2.4 million. Several members of Congress have voiced opposition to a rumored blockade on self-hosted crypto wallets in the works at the U.S. Treasury. On December 9, the Nasdaq-listed cryptocurrency mining company, Marathon Patent Group, announced the firm is purchasing 10,000 Antminer S-19j Pro units from the Chinese mining manufacturer Bitmain. According to Marathon, after the acquisition of next-generation bitcoin miners, the company will have an aggregate total of 33,560 ASIC miners with up to 3.56 exahash (EH/s) of hashpower. According to a Dec. 9 statement from Bitwise Asset Management, shares of its crypto index fund will begin public quotation on over-the-counter, or OTC, markets under the BITW ticker.
