Jeffrey Berns, the self-made cryptocurrency millionare and a former legal warrior is betting big on blockchain technology and cryptocurrency. The owner of Blockchain LLC, has already released futuristic designs for the “blockchain-utopia” he plans to develop in the deserts of Nevada come 2019.
The Vision
As earlier reported, Blockchain LLC has purchased 67,000 acres of undeveloped land in the Nevada desert for $170 million. The theoritical community will run on blockchain technology and transact with cryptocurrency. Resident’s ownership and voting rights will be stored in digital wallets.
Berns envisions a community that will be free from controls of the central government and large corporations spying on people’s data. Berns told the New York times that he is not planning to have control over the community. In fact, he would cede 90% of the decision making authority and potential gains from the community’s economic dealings to a distributed collaborative entity that would be held by residents, employees and future investors.
Fintech Neighbours
Other major corporations that have operations in Nevada surrounding Blockchain LLC’s parcel of land are; Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) which has its Gigafactory operating in Nevada, Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) and Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT).
Blockchain LLC’s architects have already released designs for the intended tech city. According to Tom Wiscombe, one of the architects, “The city aims to showcase how business development, residential living and commerce can flourish alongside world changing technologies.” The architect is optimistic that b lockcahain technology and various innovative technologies that will be integrated in the city’s designs will influence the way its residents will operate.
Blockchain technology in particular will bring transparency and democracy into system. The new designs realised include a research building with fine labs for technological inventions and innovation.
For recreation, the designers will build a sports tournament arena which shall incorporate video gaming centers.
The innovation park will also have a residential city. This section will have homes and schools for the city’s residents. Mobility will be facilitated by electric cars and an efficient drone delivery system. The whole innovation park will run on renewable energy distributed through the blockchain network.
